A new pilot bus service connecting The Trossachs
We know that a lack of regular and widespread public transport options presents a challenge when it comes to encouraging people to leave their cars when getting around the National Park. And those that don’t have cars, find it difficult to reach certain areas.
The Trossachs Explorer is a pilot bus service running from the 1st July – 30th September 2024, which aims to address some of these barriers by providing a reliable alternative, which is climate friendly and more inclusive.
The service will run from Callander, Kilmahog/ Ben Ledi, Brig O’ Turk, Ben A’an, Loch Katrine, Ben Venue, The Lodge, Aberfoyle, and back again.
Key details of the Trossachs Explorer service:
- Route Stops: Aberfoyle, The Lodge, Ben Venue, Loch Katrine, Ben A’an, Brig o’ Turk, Kilmahog (for Ben Ledi), and Callander.
- Accessibility: An 8.8m wheelchair-accessible bus with a capacity for up to 63 passengers.
- Frequency: Operating 7 days a week, up to 8 times a day.
- Connectivity: Coordinated with bus services to and from Stirling and Glasgow, as well as Loch Katrine sailing times. Stirling Council’s C60 bus service between Killin and Callander, also starting a service from 1st July, will for instance, allow locals and visitors to travel further within the Park, without the need for a car.
- Fares: A Day Saver ticket (unlimited journeys between Aberfoyle and Callander) costs £5.95 for adults, with group and family discounts available.
- Concessions: Free travel for under 22s and over 60s with a National Entitlement Card.
