Crowdfunding Campaign for Maid of the Loch Steamship
On Friday 27 October 2017, the UK's last paddle steamship, The Maid of the Loch, launched its first ever crowdfunding campaign with the target of raising £125,000 in six weeks, to fund the purchase and installation of a specialised steam boiler.
TV and film star Bill Paterson has joined forces with Celtic Music legends Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain in a new short film about the UK’s last paddle Steamship - Maid of the Loch – offering the public a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save the ship and see her sail again on the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. The film, released for the crowdfunding campaign with a target to raise £125,000 in just six weeks, to buy and install the special steam boiler that will power the engine and thus restore the “Heart” of Maid of the Loch.
The stars of the film are encouraging people to watch AND to share the film with #MaidtoSail and the website www.maidoftheloch.org on social media to help get the word out. Supporters can spread the word by following the Maid's social channels and helping to get the word out:

The Crowdfunding Campaign runs for 6 weeks from 27 October to 7 December 2017 and is to raise £125,000 to pay for the purchase and installation of a specialist steam boiler that will power Maid of the Loch. As a steam powered paddle ship it is the boiler that powers the ship, rather than an engine.
This money will allow the Maid to order a new boiler in time to start restoration work in summer of 2018, while the support team works towards reaching its fundraising target to sail this historic ship again.
